The Shakespeare Bass-A-Lure (Catalg #’s 591 & 591 1/2) were first produced in the early to mid 1920’s Some were made with two and some were made with three treble hooks,. It has a metal diving lip which is common but not always present. The catalog States “For erratic and minnow like action, the Bass-A-Lure probably surpasses all other baits of its type. With its wide open mouth, glass eyes and natural colouring and realistic scale finishes, game fish whether hungry or not cannot resist striking it.Its peculiar shape gives it a wobble and quick darting dive; while at times it assumes a natural swimming motion. Is a surface bait and floats when not in action. Body 3 1/2 inches long.”
