The South Bend Nip-I-Diddee was first seen in the Late 1940’s and was a very popular south bend lure. It went through many variations of hardware and hooks so there are many versions available. It came as three models two with double hooks, and a third model as well (trebles only). at 3″ in length it weighs from 5/8 ounce to 3/4 ounce. Depending on condition and box quality this can sell on ebay for up to $60.
An early catalog describes the Nip-I-Diddee as “The Nip-I-Diddee is one of the deadliest lures ever devised for Bass, Pike, Pickerel, Channel Bass, Weakfish and other species of fresh water and salt water gamefish. It is semi weedless in design and construction so that in addition to using it along shorelines, at the edge of drop offs, etc. it can be used with devastating effect IN weed pockets and beds. Fore and aft spinners give “flash” and create a tantalizing disturbance during the retrieve, and at the same time serve as weed guards.”
